성수의 시끄러운 공장음 대신 음악을 기억하다
Replacing Seongsu’s factory noise with memories of music
Concept
뚝섬-성수-서울숲을 아우르는 지역에 문화적 즐길거리와 소비대상은 넘쳐난다. 그러나 이 넓은 지역에서 휴식을 취할 수 있는 대표적인 형태는 카페에서 소비를 하는 것이다. 사람들에게 휴식과 즐거움을 동시에 제공할 수 있는 음악문화를 성수에서 발전시키고 성수를 기억할 그들의 멜로디를 만든다.
The area spanning Ttukseom, Seongsu, and Seoul Forest is overflowing with cultural attractions and consumer experiences. Yet, in this vast district, the most common form of rest is found in cafés, through consumption. This project aims to cultivate a music culture in Seongsu that offers both relaxation and joy, creating melodies that people will associate with their memories of the place.”
Design
저층부는 성큰가든을 통해 보행로에 넉넉한 수직 공간을 열어주며, 자유시장과 버스킹 공연의 활기를 외부로 드러내어 보행자들을 내부로 유도한다. 이를 바탕으로 매스를 외부로 돌출시켜 주요 프로그램과 디자인 의도를 드러내고, 마치 스피커처럼 성수의 음악 문화를 확장시킨다.
The lower levels open up a generous vertical space to the pedestrian path through the sunken garden, revealing the vibrancy of the free market and busking performances to the outside and drawing pedestrians inward. Building upon this, the mass is projected outward to expose key programs and design intentions, extending Seongsu’s musical culture like a speaker.
매스의 돌출이 만들어내는 테라스들은 각각 다른 목적을 가지고 있다. 인접한 프로그램과 관계하여 보조할 수 있도록 계획되어 있다.
Each terrace formed by the projecting mass serves a distinct function, strategically designed to complement and engage with the adjacent programs.
저층부의 성큰가든과 순환 흐름을 연결함으로써, 보행자의 관심을 사로잡고 지상과 지하 사이의 역동적이고 유동적인 이동을 촉진한다.
By linking the sunken garden at the lower level to the circulation flow, the design captures pedestrian interest and encourages dynamic and fluid movement between above and below ground.”
Program
프로그램을 수직적으로 분절하여 ‘체험’, ‘학습’, ‘감상’ 등 다양한 방식으로 음악을 향유할 수 있도록 하였으며, 각 사용자 유형에 맞춘 수직 동선을 통해 유기적이고 통합된 공간 경험이 이루어지도록 하였다.
The programs are vertically stratified to accommodate different modes of musical engagement—experiencing, learning, and appreciating—allowing each group to enjoy music in their own way. Vertical circulation routes specific to each user type enable a cohesive and interconnected spatial experience.”
