양홍원은 자신만의 장르를 만들어 가고 있는 대한민국의 래퍼이자 3살짜리 딸 아이의 아버지이다. 그의 음악에서는 의도적으로 발음을 흐리게 하여 듣는 이로 하여금 해석의 여지를 남겨둔다. 그러한 음악적 특징을 이 주택에 담고자 하였다.
이 주택의 부지에는 1m의 고저차가 존재한다. 그 고저차를 Skip Floor 구조로 활용하였는데, Skip Floor 구조는 완전한 층을 만들지 않은 상태에서 벽을 세우지 않아도 자연스러운 공간의 구분을 만들어준다. 그 구조로 층과 벽이 가지고 있는 경계를 흐리게 할 수 있다. 또한 주택 중심에 있는 유리 아트리움에서 서로 걸쳐있는 4개 층의 시선이 모인다. 아트리움은 흐려진 층과 공간의 구분을 한 곳에 집약시킨다. 또한 아트리움을 통한 시선의 교차는 아직 어린 그의 자녀 정보를 실시간으로 확인할 수 있게 한다.
이 주택에서 양홍원의 음악 생활과 그의 가족의 삶이 경계를 흐리고 한데 어우러진다.
Yang Hong-won is a South Korean rapper who is developing a distinctive musical genre of his own, as well as the father of a three-year-old daughter. One of the defining characteristics of his music is the deliberate blurring of pronunciation, leaving room for interpretation and allowing listeners to derive their own meanings. This house was designed to embody that unique musical quality.
The site has a one-meter difference in elevation. This change in level was utilized through a skip-floor configuration, which naturally differentiates spaces without relying on complete floor separations or solid walls. As a result, the boundaries traditionally created by floors and walls become intentionally ambiguous.
At the center of the house, a glass atrium visually connects four overlapping levels. The atrium serves as a focal point where the blurred distinctions between floors and spaces are brought together. At the same time, the intersecting sightlines created through the atrium allow the family to keep track of their young child in real time from different parts of the house.
Within this residence, Yang Hong-won’s life as a musician and his family’s daily life coexist seamlessly, their boundaries softened and intertwined within a single architectural experience.
