알렉스 호놀드는 로프 없이 암벽을 오르는 ‘프리 솔로’ 등반을 통해 한계에 도전하는 암벽등반가이다.
암벽등반을 사랑하는 그의 라이프 스타일을 공간에 담고자 하였다.
거친 암벽을 닮은 비정형 매스의 게스트룸은 그의 정체성을 드러낸다. 집의 중심인 중정은 가족 모두를 위한 소셜 허브이다. 미끄럼틀과 놀이기구, 그리고 클라이밍 공간까지 갖춰 가족이 함께 즐거움을 나누는 공간으로 설계했다. 또한 외부 수영장과 바비큐 데크를 통해 자연과 맞닿은 여유로운 일상을 누릴 수 있도록 했다.
밤이 되면 광물처럼 은은하게 빛나는 지붕 아래, 지붕과 옥상 사이의 틈새 공간은 다락방이라는 특별한 안식처가 된다.
Alex Honnold is a rock climber who pushes his limits through “free solo” climbing — ascending rock faces without a rope. This house was designed to embody his lifestyle, centered around his love of climbing.
The irregular mass of the guest room, resembling rugged rock, reveals his identity. The courtyard at the center of the house serves as a social hub for the entire family, equipped with a slide, play equipment, and even a climbing space where the family can share moments of joy together. An outdoor pool and barbecue deck also allow for a relaxed daily life connected to nature.
At night, beneath a roof that glows softly like a mineral, the gap between the roof and the rooftop becomes an attic — a special retreat.
