대상지인 행궁동은 요즘 세대들이 흔히 말하는 ‘인스타 핫플’로 각광받고 있으며, 행리단길을 중심으로 화성 행궁과 성곽길을 방문하는 이용객들이 매년 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 하지만 COVID-19로 인해 사람들의 발길이 뚝 끊긴 행궁동 남쪽의 공방거리와 수원통닭거리, 남문시장은 여전히 소외되어 행리단길과는 완전히 반대되는 모습을 보인다. 이러한 도시 단절을 해결하기 위해 거주민과 방문객에 대한 분석을 진행하고, 그들의 시각에서 바라본 도시의 올바른 모습과 역할에 대해 사회적, 공공적인 부분 뿐만아니라 현실적으로 도시의 전체가 활력을 얻고, 거주민들과 방문객 모두가 함께 공존할 수 있는 행궁동을 만들고자 한다.
Haenggung-dong is in the spotlight as an “hot place” called by generations these days, and the number of visitors to Hwaseong Haenggung Palace and roads including Haengridan-gil, is steadily increasing every year. However, the Making Street, Suwon Chicken Street, and Nammun Market in the south of Haenggung-dong, where people have been cut off due to COVID-19, are still alienated, showing complete opposition to Haengridan-gil. To resolve this problem, we will conduct an analysis of residents and visitors, and create a Haenggung-dong where not only the social and public aspects of the city from their perspective but also the entire city can be revitalized in reality and both residents and visitors can coexist.
Concept
행궁동에서만 할 수 있는 다양한 체험 프로그램과 일자리 증진 프로젝트를 통하여 방문객과 주민들의 니즈를 모두 충족함과 동시에 다양한 연령층이 함께 어울릴 수 있는 공간을 만듦으로써 행궁동의 부족했던 부분들을 채워 나갈 수 있다. 또한 행궁동만의 정체성을 다시금 확립해 나갈 수 있도록 과거와 현재가 공존하는 특별한 장소들이 주를 이루며, 기존의 수원화성박물관과 연계하여 새로운 광장, 즉 ‘Plaza’를 통해 여러 프로그램들이 복합적으로 어우러져 시너지를 낼 수 있다.
Through various experience programs and job promotion projects that can only be done in Haenggung-dong, it is possible to fill the shortcomings of Haenggung-dong by satisfying the needs of both visitors and residents and creating a space for various age groups to mingle. In addition, special places where the past and the present coexist are mainly formed so that Haenggung-dong’s identity can be re-established, and various programs can be combined to create synergy through a new square, ‘Plaza’, in connection with the existing Suwon Hwaseong Museum.

과거에는 행리단길 외에도 다양한 볼거리와 먹거리, 체험요소들이 함께 존재했다. 행리단길은 행궁동의 일부분에 불과하지만 대부분 행궁동을 방문하는 사람들은 행리단길에만 머물다가 간다. COVID-19가 생겨난 이후로 이러한 현상은 더욱 심화되어 갔다. 현재 행궁동의 고령화로 인한 다양한 문제들과 방문객들의 편향적인 문제를 함께 해결하기 위해서는 두 집단 사이에 적절한 접합점이 필요한 시점이다. 그 해결책으로써 행궁동의 모든 지역을 아우를 수 있는 수원천을 포함하고, 화성행궁과의 흐름을 가진 수원화성 박물관 부지에 사이트를 위치했다. 그리고 고령인구 중심인 주민들을 위한 여러 주민시설과 일자리와 주변상권을 살리기위한 여러 교육시설, 상점들을 포함한다. 추가적으로 행궁동을 방문하는 젊은층 인구들을 위해 수원화성 박물관과 연계하여 전시, 갤러리, 플리마켓 등 다양한 볼거리와 체험요소들을 제공한다. 그리고 지하주차장을 마련해 자연스럽게 방문객들이 행리단길이 아닌 이곳으로 향하게 하여 고질적인 주차문제도 해결할 수 있다.
In the past, in addition to Haengridan-gil, various attractions, food, and experience elements existed together. Haengridan-gil is only a part of Haenggung-dong, but most people who visit Haenggung-dong stay only on Haengridan-gil. Since the birth of COVID-19, this phenomenon has intensified. Currently, it is time for an appropriate junction between the two groups to solve various problems caused by the aging of Haenggung-dong and the biased problems of visitors together. As a solution, the site was located on the site of the Suwon Hwaseong Museum, which includes Suwoncheon Stream, which can cover all areas of Haenggung-dong, and has a flow with Hwaseong Haenggung. It also includes various resident facilities for residents who are centered on the elderly population, and various educational facilities and shops to save jobs and surrounding commercial districts. In addition, for the young population visiting Haenggung-dong, it provides various attractions and experience elements such as exhibitions, galleries, and flea markets in connection with the Suwon Hwaseong Museum. In addition, by providing an underground parking lot, visitors can naturally head here, not Haengridan-gil, to solve the chronic parking problem.

기존의 수원화성박물관으로부터 이어지는 광장과 수원천과 연결되는 주 출입구는 모든 사람들에게 열려 있다. 주로 건물 외부광장과 1층은 사람들의 접근이 가장 쉽기 때문에 주로 플리마켓이나 체험위주의 프로그램으로 구성이 된다. 특히 내부는 행궁동만의 특색을 살린 전시나 교육 관련 프로그램으로 주민들이 주최가 되어 새로운 일자리 창출을 통해 지역사회의 성장과 활력 증진에 이바지할 수 있다.
The square leading from the existing Suwon Hwaseong Museum and the main entrance to Suwoncheon Stream are open to everyone. Mainly, the plaza outside the building and the first floor are the easiest for people to access, so it is mainly composed of flea markets or experience-oriented programs. In particular, the interior is an exhibition or education-related program that utilizes the characteristics of Haenggung-dong, and residents can contribute to the growth and vitality of the community through the creation of new jobs.
