Agenda

우리는 빠르게 변화하는 시대에 살고 있다. 어제와 오늘의 유행이 다른 지금, 문화를 담는 공간에 대한 요구도 빠르게 변화할 것이다. 건물이 필요에 따라 로봇처럼 변할 수 있다면 어떨까? 변화하는 트렌드에 빠르게 대응해 변형가능한 건축물을 제안해 본다.

We live in a rapidly changing era. What was trendy yesterday and today is different from now, and the demands for spaces that encapsulate culture will also change rapidly. What if buildings could transform like robots according to needs? In response to swiftly changing trends, I propose adaptable architecture.

Concept

다변화하는 사회에서 트렌드가 빠르게 바뀌고 사람들의 취향이 다양해지면서 공간에 대한 사람들의 요구도 빠르게 변화할 것이라고 생각했다.

In a constantly changing society, where trends shift swiftly and people’s preferences diversify, I believe that demands for spaces will also evolve rapidly.

다만 공간이 변화하더라도 도시가 가진 정체성을 유지하고 이를 기반으로 변화에 대응하며 새로운 가치를 만들어 낼 수 있는 공간이 필요할 것이라 생각했다. 이러한 인식으로 저는 문래동이 가진 철공과 예술이라는 특징을 활용해 새로운 문화를 만들어 낼 문화공간을 프로젝트의 큰 틀로 설정했다.

However, even as spaces transform, I believe there is a need for spaces that maintain the identity of the city, adapt to change based on this foundation, and generate new value. With this perspective in mind, I set the framework of the project to create a cultural space that leverages the distinct characteristics of Mullae-dong, such as its fusion of craftsmanship and art, to cultivate a new cultural identity.

Site

문래동을 사이트로 설정하였고, 문래가 가진 정체성을 담는 공간을 위해 문래의 특징을 몇가지 발견하였다. 좁은 골목길로 이루어진 동네, 저층으로 이루어진 건물들, 오랫동안 지속해온 철공소의 역사. 현재의 문래는 문래창작촌과 많은 공방이 있다. 이러한 문래의 정체성에 최근 우리나라에서 수제맥주의 인기도가 증가한다는 점과 문래에 수제맥주를 브랜딩하는 가게가 늘고 있다는 점을 통해 수제맥주를 문래의 새로운 문화로 설정했다.

Having designated Mullae-dong as the site, I identified several characteristics that encapsulate its identity. It is a neighborhood characterized by narrow alleyways, low-rise buildings, and a longstanding history of metalworking shops. Present-day Mullae boasts the Mullae Creation Village and numerous workshops. Aligning with these defining attributes of Mullae, I established craft beer as a new cultural element, taking into account the rising popularity of craft beer in South Korea and the increasing number of establishments branding craft beer in Mullae.

Design

쉽게 변화하는 공간이라는 컨셉을 위하여 공간이 쉽게 변화할 수 있는 플렉시블프레임시스템을 활용하여 변화하는 문화를 담을 수 있도록 하였다. 8mX8mX8m 크기의 프레임그리드를 기본 유닛으로, 공간이 필요한만큼 넓어지거나 줄어들 수 있으며 건물의 철거 대신 조립과 분해만으로 새로운 건물이 될 수 있도록 제안해 본다.

To embody the concept of easily transformable spaces, I utilized a flexible frame system that allows for seamless adaptation to changing cultures. Employing an 8m x 8m x 8m grid as the fundamental unit, this framework can expand or contract as needed, facilitating the incorporation of evolving cultural needs. Instead of conventional demolition, the proposal suggests that through assembly and disassembly, new structures can emerge. This system enables the embodiment of a dynamic culture within a space that can fluidly change.

사이트에서 찾은 정체성과 특징을 반영해 문래동에 적합한 문화복합시설을 계획했다. 이는 영구적이지 않으며, 변화하는 트렌드와 사람들의 취향에 따라 새로운 형태와 프로그램을 담은 공간으로 변화할 수 있다.

Taking inspiration from the identity and characteristics found within the site, I devised a cultural complex that suits Mullae-dong. This facility is not intended to be permanent but rather adaptable to changing trends and evolving preferences. It can transform into spaces with new forms and programs, aligning with the dynamic culture of the area.

Program

수제맥주 양조 체험공방 | Craft Beer Brewing Workshop

수제맥주 양조장과 복합문화공간이라는 용도에 맞게 수제맥주를 체험하고 맛볼 수 있는 여러 공간과 문래창작촌과 연계해 예술작품들을 전시하고 관람할 수 있는 공간을 조성하였다.

플렉시블 프레임 시스템으로 만들어지는 공간은 내부 뿐 아니라 외부에서도 다양한 형태과 분위기를 느낄 수 있도록 프로그램과 형태를 고려하여 계획했다.

I designed various spaces tailored to the purpose of craft beer brewing and a multi-cultural complex, providing opportunities to experience and taste craft beer as well as spaces seamlessly integrated with Mullae Creation Village for exhibiting and enjoying artworks.

The spaces created through the flexible frame system were planned not only for their interiors but also their exteriors, considering programs and forms that allow people to sense diverse atmospheres and shapes from both the inside and outside perspectives.
