Agenda
다윗과 골리앗; 테헤란로와 삼성로의 교차로, 개성 강한 건물들이 늘어서 있는 테헤란로의 모서리 대지에서 어떠한 건물이 어울릴지 고민했다. 대상 대지는 바로 남쪽에 포스코 센터와 DB금융센터를 남동쪽에는 쌍둥이 건물인 해성빌딩을 마주하고 있다. 번쩍이는 커튼월의 고층빌딩과 무거운 석재 입면들 속에서 어떻게 하면 존재감을 드러낼 수 있을지 고민했다. 모서리 땅의 좁은 대지지만, 주변의 골리앗과 같은 건물들에 한 방 먹일 수 있는 존재감의 건물을 만들어보고자 했다.
The tale of David and Goliath. At the Teheran-ro and Samseong-ro intersection, along with the distinctive corner of Teheran-ro featuring remarkable buildings, prompts thoughts about the most suitable architectural additions. The selected site faces south towards the POSCO Center and the DB Financial Center, while the southeast direction boasts ,a mirrored twin building, the Haesung Building. The challenge lies in creating a design that stands out amidst the towering skyscrapers and the solid stone facades of the glittering curtain walls. Despite the limited space at this corner lot, the aim is to craft a facade with a formidable presence capable of holding its own against towering giants like Goliath.
Concept
앞으로 어떤 오피스가 필요할까? COVID-19을 겪으며 사람들이 회사에 다니는 방법이 바뀌었다. 꼭 회사로 출근하지 않고도 어느정도 효율적인 업무가 가능함이 증명되었다. 하지만, 대면으로만 가능한 업무와 효율이 있다. 그래서 판데믹 초기와 달리 시간이 지날수록 대면 업무에 대한 요구도 증가하였다.
OECD 국가 중 출퇴근 시간 1위, 시간당 GDP는 아래에서 2위라는 기이한 통계를 보여주는 우리나라의 현실에 적합한 오피스의 형태는 어떤 것일까? 최근 거점오피스라는 개념을 여러 회사에서 적용하고 있다. 본사에 모두가 모이는 대신 여러 곳에 존재하는 거점오피스에 출근을 하는 개념이다. 이러한 방식이 대지는 협소하지만, 교통 인프라와 풍부한 인적 네크워크가 있는 테헤란로에 적합하다고 생각했다.
Envisioning the future of office spaces raises questions about the evolving nature of work, especially in the context of the changes brought about by COVID-19. The pandemic has reshaped how people approach work, showcasing the feasibility of remote work for certain tasks. Nevertheless, some tasks inherently demand face-to-face interaction for optimal efficiency. Consequently, as time has progressed beyond the initial stages of the pandemic, there’s been a resurgence in the demand for in-person work.
Given Korea’s unique reality, characterized by staggering statistics in terms of commuting time ranking first among OECD countries and second from last in hourly GDP, the question of the ideal office format arises. Lately, the notion of a “HUB-SPOKE” has gained traction among several companies. This concept involves employees working not at a central headquarters(Hub), but at various base offices distributed across different locations(Spoke). This approach seems particularly fitting for Teheran-ro, which boasts a compact footprint yet benefits from robust transportation infrastructure and a vibrant social network.
