Agenda

더 이상 결혼을 하지 않는 인구는 증가할 것이고, 정상가족이 해체되어 가족의 형태는 다양해질 것입니다. 1인 주거 또한 늘어나 외로움을 해소하기 위한 다양한 주거 공동체가 생겨날 것입니다. 그리고 여성들은 안전, 노년기 등을 포함한 이유로 가부장제 사회로부터 자유로운 여성들만의 공간을 반드시 가져야만 하고, 가지게 될 것입니다. 이는 제가 결혼하지 않은 미래의 모습을 그려본 저의 삶 설계입니다.

The number of people who no longer get married will increase, and the normal family will be disbanded and the form of the family will vary. Single-person housing will also increase, creating various residential communities to relieve loneliness. And women must and will have their own space for women who are free from patriarchal society for reasons including safety, old age, etc. This is my life design that depicts my future without marriage.

Concenpt

1.
개인의 영역을 침범 받지 않으면서도 외롭지 않을 수는 없을까? 웜토피아에서는 개인과 공공이 분리되어 있어 각자의 집을 가지면서도 언제든지 함께하기를 ‘선택’할 수 있다. 혼자 있기를 선택해도 사람들과 마주치며 외로움을 덜고, 원하면 언제든지 함께할 수 있는 커뮤니티가 준비되어 있다.

Can’t we not be lonely without being invaded by our own territory? In Warmtopia, individuals and the public are separated, so they can “choose” to have their own homes and be together at any time. Even if you choose to be alone, there is a community where you can meet people, reduce loneliness, and be together whenever you want.

2.
여성전용 주택을 만들고, 그 건물의 보안만 철저하게 한다고 여성들이 안전 해지는 것은 아니다. 그럴 경우, 그 공간에는 계속 공포가 남아있게 된다. 여성들이 안전하다고 느끼고 실제로 범죄를 예방하려면 그 공간에 여러 사람이 오가고 있다는 인상을 줘야 하고, 웜토피아에서는 그 역할을 여성들끼리 서로 하게 된다. 웜토피아에서는 서로 얼굴을 마주치고 소통하는 과정에서 혼자라 느끼지 않아 공포심이 줄어들게 된다. 또한 복도와 발코니 등 외부를 향해 열린 공간들로 수많은 여성들이 가시화 되기 때문에 쉽사리 범죄를 저지를 수 없게 되고 이들은 서로의 눈이 되어준다.

Creating a women’s house and keeping the building secure does not make women safe. In that case, fear remains in the space. In order for women to feel safe and actually prevent crimes, they need to give the impression that there are many people coming and going in the space, and in Warmtopia, women play the role of each other. In Warmtopia, fear is reduced because it is not felt alone in the process of making face-to-face contact and communicating with each other. In addition, many women cannot commit crimes easily because they are visible to the outside with open spaces such as corridors and balconies, and they become eyes of each other.

‘비혼’과 ‘여성’이 붙는 순간 사회에서 달갑지 않은 시선으로 인식할 수 있다. 벽으로 에워싼 ‘성역’이 아닌, 내부의 안전을 보장하면서도 지역사회에 스며드는 주거 공동체이고 싶었다. 이를 위해 오히려 공간을 열어 지역사회와 소통하고 지역주민 모두가 쓸 수 있는 공원과 프로그램 공간을 형성했다. 누군가는 함께할 수 없는 ‘금지의 영역’이 아닌 모두가 함께할 수 있는 지역 친화적인 공동체로 자리매김하게 되었다.

The moment “non-marriage” and “female” are attached, society can recognize them as unwelcome. It wanted to be a residential community that penetrates the community while guaranteeing internal safety, not a walled sanctuary. To this end, it opened a space to communicate with the community and form parks and program spaces that can be used by all local residents. This space has become a region-friendly community where everyone can be together, rather than a “territory of prohibition” where no one can be together.

Site

사이트 선정에 있어 비혼여성 주거 공동체에 중요한 요소들을 우선순위대로 고려하였습니다. 여성들의 직주근접을 위해 서울에서 시작하고, 제일 중요한 것은 아무래도 비용이라고 생각했습니다. 월세 40만원 이하의 지역을 통해 마포구, 성동구, 관악구, 성북구 4곳으로 후보를 추렸고, 그 다음으로 최우선시 되어야할 것은 안전이라고 생각했습니다. 서울시 통계청 자료를 통해 살펴본 여성대상 범죄율에서 4곳 중 성동구가 가장 좋은 성적을 냈고, 문화적 향유나 지역적 메리트 등을 고려했을 때 성수동을 사이트로 고르게 되었습니다. 성수동 근처에는 서울숲과 한강이 있어 개인의 공간에서 해소되지 않는 답답함을 해소할 수 있고, 건축적으로도 공업지역이 많아 발전 가능성이 큰 지역입니다.

I have considered the important factors in the selection of sites for single-married women’s residential communities as a priority. I started in Seoul for closer distance of residence and work of women, and I thought the most important thing was the cost. Through areas with monthly rent of less than 400,000 won, I selected four candidates: Mapo-gu, Seongdong-gu, Gwanak-gu, and Seongbuk-gu, and I thought safety should be the next priority. Seongdong-gu scored the best out of the four women’s crime rates reviewed by the Seoul National Statistical Office, and considering cultural enjoyment and regional merit, Seongsu-dong was chosen as the site. Near Seongsu-dong, there are Seoul Forest and Han River, which can relieve frustration that cannot be resolved in personal space, and there are many architectural and industrial areas, which are highly likely to develop.

Design

1. 여성들의 활동성, 그리고 이의 가시화가 중요하다 생각해 넓은 마당을 확보해주었고,

2. 지역적 맥락을 고려한 개방성을 주었습니다. 이 과정에서 원래 조그맣게 있었던 동네 공원을 확장해 다같이 쓸 수 있는 공원으로 만들었습니다.

3. 주거끼리의 연결을 위해 형태와 공공 및 개인의 분리 등 내부적 조정을 했고, 향을 고려한 높이조절을 했습니다.

4. 여성들의 쾌적한 주거공간, 자연스러운 소통과 이의 가시화를 위한 복도와 발코니를 내었고,

5. 지역적 소통과 원활한 출입을 위한 공공 제스쳐를 취했고,

6. 이렇게 최종적 형태가 나오게 되었습니다.

1. The activity of women, and the visibility of this, was important, so I secured a large yard.

2. It gave us openness considering the local context. In this process, I expanded our original small neighborhood park and made it a park where we can use it together.

3. For the connection of houses, internal adjustments such as separation of form and public/ individual were made, and height adjustments were made considering landscape.

4. A pleasant residential space for women, natural communication, and a hallway and balcony for their visualization.

5. Public gestures for local communication and smooth access.

6. This is how the final form came out.

1. 저층부에는 주로 커뮤니티 시설을 배치했습니다. 웜토피아 커뮤니티 전용공간이 있고, 동네 주민들이 모두 함께 사용할 수 있는 시설도 공존합니다. 그리고 수직적 이동을 고려한 코어배치를 했습니다.

2. 그 위에 주거를 쌓고,

3. 연결을 위해 복도와 발코니를 설치하고,

4. 옆과의 프라이버시 보호를 위해 레이어를 한 겹 깔고,

5. 조경으로 마무리했습니다.

1. Community facilities mainly have been placed on the lower floor. There is a space dedicated to the Warmtopia community, and facilities that can be used together by all residents of the neighborhood coexist. And I arranged the core considering vertical movement.

2. Build a house on top of it.

3. Install hallway and balcony for connection.

4. Layers are laid out to protect privacy with the sides.

5. I’ve finished with landscaping.

Program

웜토피아가 추구하는 5대 가치는 여성의 안전과 행복을 최우선시하고, 그 다음으로 건강한 라이프스타일, 다양한 커뮤니티 형성, 공유 창조경제, 친환경 라이프스타일을 추구합니다. 이 가치에 따른 다양한 프로그램들이 준비되어 있는데, 다음과 같습니다.

The five values pursued by Warmtopia prioritize women’s safety and happiness, and then pursue a healthy lifestyle, a diverse community formation, a shared creative economy, and an eco-friendly lifestyle. There are various programs prepared according to this value, as follows.
