Agenda
차 없는 거리로 익숙한 명동에 차가 다니는 건물을 만든다면 어떤 일들이 벌어지게 될까 라는 생각에서 출발한 프로젝트이다. ‘자동차’의 레이어가 더해진 상태로 사람들이 문화 시설을 활주할 수 있는 환경을 만들어주면서 다음 세대 명동 속 문화의 장에 대해 생각해보고자 했다.
It is a project that started with the idea of what would happen if we made a building with cars in Myeong-dong, which is familiar as a car-free street. While creating an environment where people can glide through cultural facilities with the layer of ‘car’ added, I wanted to think about the next-generation cultural arena in Myeong-dong.
이 프로젝트는 우리가 상상한 미래 명동 속 랜드마크로서 차에서 내리지 않고 탄 채로 문화를 즐길 수 있으며, 전기 차, 자율주행 자동차, 디스플레이 등의 신기술을 명동에 방문하는 사람들에게 직접 느끼게 해준다. 기존 연속적인 프로그램을 따라 이어지는 명동의 길을 건물 속으로 말아 올린다는 단순한 원리로 앞서 말한 컨셉을 건물로 실현하고자 했다.
This project is a landmark in the future Myeong-dong that we have envisioned, where you can enjoy culture without getting out of the car, and new technologies such as electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and displays can be experienced directly by visitors to Myeong-dong. With the simple principle of rolling up the Myeong-dong street that follows the existing continuous program into the building, we tried to realize the aforementioned concept into a building.
Concept
최근 전기 차의 도입으로 공해 없는 자동차 운전이 가능해졌다. 기존에 길 위에만 존재했던 차의 공간 들을 건물 내부까지 확장함으로써, 사람들은 차라는 레이어를 가진 채로 문화 공간을 접하게 된다. 이는 대중 문화 공간 속 사적인 자신만의 레이어가 생긴다는 것을 의미한다.
The recent introduction of electric vehicles has made it possible to drive a car without pollution. By extending the spaces of cars that previously existed only on the road to the inside of the building, people come into contact with the cultural space with a layer of cars. This means that you have your own private layer in the pop culture space.

이 사이트의 특징은 크게 부족, 감소, 위험 세 가지로 나타낼 수 있다.
The characteristics of this site can be largely expressed in three categories: lack, reduction, and risk.

이 사이트는 넓은 대지에 비해 매우 협소한 주차 공간, 주차 인프라를 가지고 있다.
- Scarcity ;
This site has very narrow parking space and parking infrastructure compared to the large site.
2. 감소 ;
출산률 하락으로 인한 인구 감소와 코로나 발생으로 인해 이 사이트의 방문자 수는 계속해서 하락세를 보이고 있다.

The number of visitors to this site continues to decline due to the declining population due to the declining birth rate and the coronavirus outbreak.
3. 위험 ;
차도와 차 없는 도로가 교차하는 곳이 많아 거리가 위험하고 혼란스럽다.

여러가지의 자동차의 특성을 활용하여 세 가지의 큰 프로그램을 담은 문화 공간을 제안했다.
- 물건 구매와 픽업이 가능한 디스플레이 상업 공간
2. 영화관과 미디어 아트 등 전시 공간
3. 카페와 아트리움 전시가 있는 휴게 공간
By utilizing the characteristics of various automobiles, a cultural space containing three major programs was proposed.
- Display commercial space for purchase and pickup
- Exhibition spaces such as cinemas and media art
- A rest area with a cafe and atrium exhibition
