전세계에 영상 컨텐츠를 제공하는 Netflix의 사옥 ‘Office Netflix’는, 업무시설 집중 지역인 테헤란로의 흐름을 유지하는 동시에 문화복합시설의 성격을 띠는 건물로서 다양한 연령대와 인종의 사람들에게 친숙한 이미지로 다가간다.
‘Office Netflix,’ the company building of Netflix which provides video contents around the world, would be familiar to people of various ages and races, as a building that maintains the surrounding trend of business facility concentration area but also has the characteristics of a cultural complex.
Concept
언제 어디서든 핸드폰을 들고 OTT 서비스를 이용할 수 있게 된 지금, 대중들의 넷플릭스에 대한 친밀감과 기업의 대중성이 사옥에 반영되어야 한다고 생각했다. 결국 접근성과 상징성은 사옥 설계에서 중요한 요소로 작용하였다. 사무실 이용자와 대중들의 동선 분리, 저층부 팝업스토어나 전시장을 통한 방문 유도, 그리고 미디어 파사드의 배치는 철저히 오락적인 요소를 추구하는 방문자의 관점에서 디자인되었다.
Now that OTT services are available anytime, anywhere with mobile phones, I thought that the public’s intimacy with Netflix and corporate popularity should be reflected in the office building. In the end, accessibility and symbolism served as important factors in the design of the office building. The separation of movement between office users and the public, the induction of visits through low-rise pop-up stores or exhibition halls, and the deployment of media facades are designed from the perspective of visitors who pursue thoroughly recreational elements.

테헤란로는 대체로 업무 시설이 많이 분포하며, 대규모 숙박시설과 문화복합시설 코엑스가 자리하고 있어 내국인뿐만 아니라 외국인의 방문도 잦은 곳이다. 이는 전세계에 영상 컨텐츠를 제공하는 Netflix에게 꽤나 좋은 조건의 부지이다.
Teheran-ro is generally distributed with many business facilities, and there are large-scale accommodation facilities and cultural complex facility called COEX. It is a place where not only Koreans but also foreigners frequently visit. Therefore it is a pretty good site for Netflix, which provides video contents around the world.
