정보란 데이터를 수집하여 이를 도움이 될 수 있도록 해석한 지식이다. 전문적인 전공지식부터 실생활의 정보까지, 정보는 계속해서 사용되고 만들어진다. 인류의 역사는 정보와 함께하였고 정보를 담고 있는 공간 또한 변화하였다. 정보공간은 미디어와 도서관 두 장소로 나눌 수 있다. 정보공간인 미디어는 정보를 담는 그릇 그 자체라고 볼 수 있다. 기존의 미디어는 문자, 소리, 영상이었다. 이때 인터넷의 등장으로 더욱 효과적으로 사람들은 가상의 공간에 정보를 저장할 수 있게 되었다.

Information is knowledge that collects data and interprets it to help. From professional major knowledge to real-life information, information is used and made continuously. The history of mankind has been accompanied by information, and the space containing information has also changed. Information space can be divided into two places: media and library. The media, which is an information space, can be seen as a container for information itself. Traditional media were text, sound, and video. At this time, with the advent of the Internet, people could store information more effectively in virtual spaces.

Concept

미디어는 정보를 담는 그릇이다. 기존의 미디어는 문자, 소리, 영상이었다. 이때 인터넷의 등장으로 사람들은 가상의 공간에 정보를 저장할 수 있게 되었다. 도서관은 이러한 미디어와 사람이 만나면서 생긴 공간이다. 과거의 도서관은 특정 계층을 위한 정보 보관의 용도였다면, 현대의 도서관은 공공과 대중을 위한 정보 활용을 하는 공간이 되었다.

그렇다면 앞으로의 정보공간은 어떻게 변화할까? 미디어의 관점에서는 인터넷 기술의 발전으로, AI로 인해 정보가 생성되는 시대가 되었다. 유튜브와 같은 1인 미디어를 통해서, SNS를 통해서 누구나 정보를 접할 수 있게 되었다.

즉, 앞으로는 대량의 정보를 누구나 접할 수 있을 것이다. 사람들은 정보를 접근할 수 있는 도서관에서 탈피하여, 정보를 만들어낼 수 있는 도서관을 필요로 할 것이다. 정보를 만드는 것은 단순한 저작 활동부터, 예술 활동, 연구 활동을 포함한다.

The media is a container for information. Traditional media were text, sound, and video. At this time, with the advent of the Internet, people could store information in virtual spaces. A library is a space created by the meeting of these media and people. While libraries in the past were for storing information for a specific class, modern libraries have become spaces for using information for the public and the public.

Then, how will the information space change in the future? From the media’s point of view, the development of Internet technology is a major agenda. The era has come when information is generated by AI. Anyone can access information through one-person media such as YouTube and SNS.

In other words, anyone will be able to access a large amount of information in the future. People will need libraries that can generate information, breaking away from libraries that have access to information. Creating information includes simple authoring activities, art activities, and research activities.

책을 담는 상자. 도서관. 그러나 1970년대부터 프랑스에서부터 위에서 말한 정보공간들의 변화를 인지하여, 새로운 형태의 도서관, 단순히 책이라는 한정된 하나의 매체가 아닌 다양한 매체를 담는 상자인 미디어 테크를 만들게 되었다.

미디어를 담는 상자. 도서관은 단순히 정보를 담는 공간이 아니라 문화공간으로서 역할을 하게 된다. 미디어 테크 이후에 새롭게 등장한 도서관들은 모두 사람들이 모일 수 있는 공간을 제공하여 공공이 다양한 매체를 접하여 문화를 향유할 수 있는 공간이 되었다.

A box for media. The library serves as a cultural space, not just a space for storing information. After Media Tech, all new libraries have provided a space for people to gather, making it a space for the public to enjoy culture by accessing various media.

Information theque.
정보를 담는 상자는 이제 미디어라는 제한에서 벗어나, 정보에 대한 상자이다. 정보를 접근하는 것에서 벗어나 정보를 생산하는 시설로서 역할하며, 리좀 스튜디오를 통해서 각 활동들을 지원하는 정보창고의 역할을 한다.

Site

디지털 미디어 시티는 서울 내 미개발지였던 상암동을 미디어와 엔터테인먼트를 중점으로 하는 산업 클러스터로 개발되었다. 반면 수색동의 일대는 경의선에 의해 상암과 단절된 채 버려져 있으며, 상암이 개발되면서 슬럼화가 진행되었다.

수색이 상암과 달리 개발이 느릴 수 밖에 없었던 이유는 수색동 일대 자체가 주거지가 밀집된 부지이기 때문이다. 역사적으로 수색역과 차량기지, 그리고 수색 변전소가 인접한 까닭에 이곳에 종사하는 노동자들을 위해 주거지가 밀집되어졌고, 현재는 그 주거지들이 노후화되어 재개발이 예정되었다.

Digital Media City was developed as an industrial cluster focusing on media and entertainment in Sangam-dong, an undeveloped area in Seoul. On the other hand, the area of Susaek-dong was abandoned while being cut off from Sangam by the Gyeongui Line, and as Sangam was developed, slumming progressed.

Unlike Sangam, the search was inevitably slow in development because the area of Susaek-dong itself is a site where residential areas are concentrated. Historically, due to the proximity of search stations, vehicle bases, and search substations, residential areas were concentrated for workers working here, and now the residences are aging and redevelopment is scheduled.

현재 상암과 수색은 철도에 의해서 단절되어 있다. 재개발이 진행되더라도, 두 지역이 연결되지 못한다면 장기적으로 두 지역은 양극화가 진행 될 것이다. 특히 수색역에 인접한 수색차량기지에 의해 수색역에서 상암으로의 접근은 굴다리를 통한 접근밖에 이루어지지 않았다.

그러나 수색역세권 개발로 인하여 수색차량기지와 일부 철로는 그 기능을 잃게 되었고, 수색과 상암이 이어질 수 있는 가능성이 생기게 되었다. 장애물이었던 차량기지와 철로가 사라지면서, 남아있는 수색역의 기능은 보존한 채 상암과 수색을 연결하는 해법으로서 본 프로젝트가 기능할 수 있다.

Currently, Sangam and Susaek are cut off by rail. Even if redevelopment proceeds, the two regions will be polarized in the long run if the two regions are not connected. In particular, by the search vehicle base adjacent to the search station, access from the search station to Sangam was made only through Guldari.

However, due to the development of the search station area, the search vehicle base and some railroads lost their functions, and there was a possibility that search and Sangam could continue. As the vehicle base and railroad, which were obstacles, disappear, the remaining functions of the search station can be preserved and this project can function as a solution to connect Sangam and search.

Design

한편 디지털 미디어 시티는 서울 내 미개발지였던 상암동을 미디어와 엔터테인먼트를 중점으로 하는 산업 클러스터로 개발되었다. 반면 수색동의 일대는 경의선에 의해 상암과 단절된 채 버려져 있었다. 수색이 상암과 달리 개발이 느릴 수 밖에 없었던 이유는 수색동 일대 자체가 주거지가 밀집된 부지이기 때문이다. 현재 단절되어있는 수색과 상암을 잇기 위해, 수색역과 차량기지 일부를 활용하고자 한다.

In order to connect the currently disconnected Susaek and Sangam, Susaek station and the not use subway depot is used for this project.

데크 상부에 위치한 Information Theque는 자연스럽게 수색과 상암의 사람들을 받아들인다. 보행자들은 수색을 향하여 가다가, 혹은 상암을 향하여 가다가, 또는 목적을 가지고 건물에 들어설 수 있다. 이 과정에서 사람들은 다양한 정보를 접한다.기존의 역은 수색과 상암을 단절시키는 위치에 존재하였다. 여기에 더하여 차량기지는 상암으로의 동선을 막는 장애물이다. 새로운 수색역은 수색역을 90도 돌려서 상암과 잇는 방향으로 설계된다.

Located at the top of the deck, Information Theque naturally accepts people from Susaek and Sangam. The existing station existed in a position that cut off search and Sangam. In addition, the vehicle base is an obstacle to the movement to Sangam. The new Susaek station is designed to connect Sangam by turning the search station 90 degrees.

Program

도서관은 단순히 정보만 저장하는 공간이 아닌, 이를 활용하는 형태가 되었다. 정보 리터러시의 관점에서 앞으로의 도서관은 정보에 대한 비판, 생산, 접근, 소통이 가능한 복합적인 형태의 공간이 될 것이다. 앞으로 사람들은 정보를 단순히 접근할 수 있는 도서관에서 탈피하여, 정보를 만들어낼 수 있는 도서관을 필요로 할 것이다. 정보를 만드는 것은 단순한 저작 활동부터, 예술 활동, 연구 활동을 포함한다. 리좀이라는 세포 단위의 도서관에서 이러한 행위가 일어날 것이다.

Libraries have become a form of utilizing information, not just a space for storing information. From the perspective of information literacy, the library in the future will be a complex type of space where criticism, production, access, and communication of information can be made. In the future, people will need a library that can generate information, breaking away from a library that can simply access information. Creating information includes simple authoring activities, art activities, and research activities. This will happen in a cell-level library called a rhizome.
