기억의 분류 Classification of Memory
; 그 파편들이 갖는 우연과 유일의 공간은 새로운 기억의 분류법으로써 기술복제시대의 무상함을 영원으로 끌어올릴 수 있는 현대의 기억의 공간을 표상하고 있다. The coincidence and unique space of the fragments represent a modern memory space that can raise the innocence of the age of technology replication to eternity as a new classification method of memory.

파편 Fragment
지난 여름 가족들과 함께 바닷가에서 즐겁게 시간을 보냈던 기억이 떠오른다. 파도가 밀려갈 때 힘껏 바다를 향해 뛰어들어가 다시 밀려오는 파도에 몸을 맡겨 되돌아 온다. 밀려올 것을 아는데도 힘껏 바다를 향해 뛰어들어가는 것이 삶의 태도라면 다시 밀려올 때의 즐거운 기억은 삶의 선물일 것 같다. 파도에 밀려들어 갔다가 밀려 나올 때 남는 것, 바위산에 오르고 내려와 남는 것은 기억뿐이다. 우리는 기억하기 위해 살아가는 것일지도 모른다. 현대에 와서 기억을 저장하는 매체는 무한에 가까워지고 있다. 무한한 저장장치는 필요 이상의 데이터를 수집하고 있다. 더이상의 기억의 재현은 산만함이다. 이제 우리에게는 기억을 소유하는 것이 아니라 분류하는 과정이 필요하다.
I remember last summer having a good time at the beach with my family. When the waves are pushed in, they rush into the sea and immerse themselves in the waves. If you know that you are coming, but it is the attitude of life to run to the sea with all your strength, the joyful memories of being pushed back may be a gift of life. The only thing left is when you are pushed into the waves and pushed out. We may be living to remember. In modern times, the medium for storing memories is nearing infinity. Infinite storage is collecting more data than necessary. The reproduction of memories is no longer distraction. Now we need to classify, not own memory.

공간 역시 기억의 매체가 될 수 있다. (무한하고 산만한) 나는 공간을 만들기 위해 잡화점에서 구입한 무언가 담은 수 있는 레디메이드의 정형의 그릇들을 깼다. 내가 그릇들을 자갈밭에 던지는 순간 무정형의 깨진 그릇은 더이상의 용도를 상실했다. 자갈밭에서 나는 몇개의 파편을 골라 먼지 없는 나무 판자에 선별해 올려놓았다. 그 파편들이 갖는 우연성과 일시성, 유일의 공간은 새로운 분류법으로써 기술복제시대의 무상함을 영원으로 끌어올릴 수 있는, 현대의 기억의 공간을 표상하고 있다.
Space can also be a medium of memory. (Infinite and distracting) I scooped up ready-made bowls that could contain something I bought at a grocery store to create space. As soon as I threw the bowls into the gravel, the amorphous broken bowls no longer used. In the gravel, I picked some debris and sorted them on a dust-free wooden plank. The coincidence, temporality, and unique space of the fragments represent a modern space of memory that can raise the innocence of the age of technology cloning to eternity as a new classification.
모형 Maquette
나는 파편들을 그리드 안에 가뒀다. 건축학과를 다니며 자주가던 모형재료 전문점에서 아크릴 봉을 잔뜩 사와서 그리드를 만들었다. 모던의 그리드는 파편들을 관통하며 건축적 해석을 가능하게 한다. 그리드로 만들어진 리듬 속에서 사람들은 파편들로 만들어진 기억의 방을 오감으로 체험할 것이다. 그것의 용도가 불분명할지라도 그곳에서 느낄 수 있는 감각은 내가 지난 여름 바닷가에서 느꼈던 파도와 같을지도 모르겠다.
I trapped debris inside the grid. I bought a lot of acrylic rods in a model material store that I often went to during the department of architecture to make a grid. Modern grids penetrate the debris and allow architectural interpretation. In a rhythm made of grid, people will experience the five senses of memory made of debris. Although its use is unclear, the sense I can feel there may be the same waves I felt at the beach last summer.
