근대의 모더니티에 의해 분리된 개인은 다양하기 보다는 하나의 성격으로 수렴하게 된다. 우리는 저성장 시대를 맞이했고, 도심에서 밀려난 생산시설은 어찌됐든 우리 삶에 필수적인 요소이다. 포디즘 이후, 생산은 질적인 성장을 바라볼 때에 새로운 가치가 만들어질 수 있다.
서울 내 대부분의 준 공업 지역에 비해 성수동은 젊은 예술가와 새로운 브랜드의 집적으로 인해 과거의 모습 위로 특유의 다양함이 새롭게 입혀지고 있다. 접점이 없는 다양한 이들을 오프라인에서 관계 맺도록 하기 위한 공간으로서 성수동을 기반으로 하는 컬렉티브, “팩토리 FACTORY”를 제안하고자 한다.
Individuals separated by modernity converge into one personality rather than being diverse. We are facing a low-growth era, and production facilities that have been pushed out of the city center are, in any case, an essential element in our lives. After Fordism, production can create new values when looking at qualitative growth.
Compared to most semi-industrial areas in Seoul, Seongsu-dong has a unique diversity over the past due to the accumulation of young artists and new brands. We would like to propose “Factory FACTORY”, a collective based in Seongsu-dong, as a space for offline relationships with diverse people who do not have contact points.

탄력적이고 지속 가능한 공간은 건축물 자체보다는 그에 담겨있는 컨텐츠에서 비롯된다고 생각했다. 다양한 사람이 모여 다양한 이야기가 만들어지길 바랐고, 그를 위해 일련의 행위를 담기 위한 매체로서 최소한의 경계만을 짓고자 했다.
기둥-보 구조의 가변성에 초점을 두고 8.1m×8.1m 정방형의 격자를 가지는 구조물을 계획했고, 그 안에서 일차적인 내, 외부의 경계를 지었다. 이후, 적절한 단위별로 공간을 다양하게 비워냈고, 비워진 공간은 건물 내에서도 적절히 외부를 느낄 수 있게 하고, 채광과 환기를 용이하게 한다. 산업화 이후 양적 성장에만 초점이 맞춰져 있던 공간의 질적 성장을 위한 비움이자, 이후 예측하기 힘든 다양한 행위를 담기 위한 비움이다.
앤디 워홀은 자신의 아틀리에를 ‘팩토리’라 불렀다. 그의 팩토리에는 다양한 계층과 직업의 사람들이 모여 다양한 영감을 주고받았다. 공업사회 이후의 공장은 단순히 대량생산을 위한 시설에서 벗어나야 한다. 큰 아트리움이 있는 라운지 형태의 팩토리는 기존의 생산구조에서 벗어나 새로운 형태의 협업과 컨텐츠를 통해 다양한 생산구조와 가치체계를 만들어 내기 위한 제안이다.
I thought that a resilient and sustainable space comes from the contents contained in it rather than the building itself. I hoped that various people would gather and create various stories, and for him, I tried to set the minimum boundaries as a medium to contain a series of actions.
Focusing on the variability of the column-beam structure, a structure with an 8.1m × 8.1m square grid was planned, and the primary internal and external boundaries were built in it. After that, the space was evacuated in various ways for each appropriate unit, and the emptied space allows a proper feeling of the outside even within the building, and facilitates light and ventilation. It is an emptying for the qualitative growth of a space that was focused only on quantitative growth after industrialization, and an emptying for various activities that are difficult to predict later.
Andy Warhol called his atelier a “factory.” In his factory, people of various classes and professions gathered to exchange various inspirations. A post-industrial society factory must move away from simply being a facility for mass production. The lounge-type factory with a large atrium is a proposal to break away from the existing production structure and create a variety of production structures and value systems through new forms of collaboration and content.
